Facilitating Powerful Coalitions (TWO-DAY WORKSHOP)
November 12 & 13, 2009 | 9AM – 5PM BOTH DAYS
As municipalities and nonprofit community organizations are increasingly called upon to build alliances or coalitions to advocate for their goals, staff from these organizations are challenged to develop new leadership skills to foster successful collaborations with coalition partners.
This course is designed to provide mid-level staff with hands-on experience in facilitating productive meetings, communicating, negotiating, and resolving conflicts. Participants will also acquire skills needed to decide if and how to collaborate and to build more effective partnerships. Case studies during the two-day workshop will examine issues surrounding the farm bill and farmland protection. The trainers are Patrick Field (Managing Director, Consensus Building Institute; Cambridge, MA) and Mary Margret Golten (Partner, CDR Associates; Boulder, Colorado). Space is limited; pre-registration required. Trustees of Reservations Members: $70. Nonmembers: $80. BYO lunch. See attached brochure for more information.
Sponsored by The Trustees of Reservations’ Putnam Conservation Institute and Consensus Building Institute. Co-sponsored by Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, Historic New England, Land Trust Alliance, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, New England Grassroots Environmental Fund, Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, The Trustees of Reservations’ Highland Communities Initiative, and Vermont Land Trust.
